Portelligent Perspective: Apple iPhone: Some Speculation on Content and Costs

With Apple's high-profile announcement of the iPhone, scheduled for June 2007 availability, we have taken the opportunity to speculate on possible product design attributes and manufacturing costs. No iPhone hardware is yet available and this analysis is a work of fiction and conjecture. Component vendors, architectural musings, and component costs contained in this report are based on previous Portelligent teardowns, public datasheets, opinion, and Apple's stated iPhone specifications.

The Excel file referenced in the report is also available for customers to perform their own analyses and data manipulations. We will perform our usual teardown on the iPhone hardware once it becomes available but in the meantime are providing this analysis to all Portelligent customers. We welcome your comments as always.
